Sam Schmill, PCI-KA ABCSDT
Trainer
Sam is Bear Necessities' dog and animal trainer. Sam has been working with animals for years. Head to the About page to learn more about Sam's extensive experience and why she chose to start Bear Necessities.
Bailey, DCAT CGCA TKN FITS FTN
Resident Good Girl
Bailey is Sam's oldest golden retriever. She is also a very good girl. She has very good house manners and loves to greet everyone when she gets permission! Bailey sometimes comes to lessons with Sam to act as a demo dog.
Baloo, CGCA CGCU
Rule Tester
Baloo is Sam’s youngest golden retriever. He is a pro at testing his boundaries. Baloo is Sam’s sport dog and competes in scent work. He sometimes comes to lessons to help owners learn how to handle a dog who’s already been trained on the leash, and to provide a neutral distraction for dogs that get excited around other dogs.
Clover
Art Pawlector
Clover is an extra smart bunny and Sam's first pet. Clover does many tricks but her most impressive by far is using a paintbrush to paint abstract art pieces on canvases. Sam has Clover's art scattered around her home, and used to sell it on Etsy.
Belle and Beau
Purrsonal Assistants
Belle and Beau, otherwise known as "The Schmitten Twins," are the youngest members of the Bear Necessities team. Their duties include giving snuggles and pawing at Bailey and Baloo's tails to keep them fluffy.
Bear
Pawsistant Manager
Bear took over Nutmeg's job of pawsistant manager (see below). His name was "Bear" at the shelter, and when Sam met him she knew he was meant to be part of the Bear Necessities Fur-family.
Nutmeg
Former Pawsistant Manager
Nutmeg had a very impawtant role when he was with our team. As pawsistant manager Nutmeg was in charge of increasing oxytocin levels around the office. Nutmeg left us in December of 2022 to a progressive neurologic disease. We all miss him very much.
