Bear Necessities offers multiple different types of services across many package options, including customizable packages built specifically for you and your dog’s needs. Read below to learn about the different types of lessons offered.

Private Lessons
Private lessons are the foundation of every single program offered by Bear Necessities Dog Training. These 30-60 minute sessions are focused on going over new skills with you and your dog with the goal of making these skills repeatable by you in your every day life with your dog.

Homeschool
Homeschool sessions are one-on-one sessions between your trainer and your dog in your home. These 30 minute sessions focus on building a foundational skill set using successful repetitions. By allowing for 100% focus on your dog, these lessons allow your trainer to adjust quickly and in the moment to better suit your dog’s training style.

Socialization Outings
Socialization outings are one-on-one sessions between your trainer and your dog at an appropriate pet friendly location local to you. These 30-60 minute outings are aimed at teaching your dog neutrality in public and around novel stimuli, engagement and training around distractions, and more. These outings are integral to raising a well rounded puppy, and key to keeping your dog feeling safe and happy in public.

Group Classes
Bear Necessities Dog Training offers limited group classes at Sam’s home in Canton (location provided to approved clients), with a current focus on neutrality, confidence building, and engagement for puppies less than 6 months old; as well as occasional weekend drop-ins for current and former clients. If you have a group of 3 or more dogs that are interested in a specific type of class such as CGC, tricks, leash walking, etc. feel free to reach out!

Children’s Lessons
Bear Necessities’ new children’s program gives your child the opportunity to take the leash. These 30-60 minute sessions between the trainer, your dog, and your child, are focused on educating children between the ages of 5-15 on proper dog care and etiquette while helping them create a stronger bond with their dog. These very customizable sessions are ideal for any child who wants to take part in their dog’s training program, or for children who may learn better when their parents are not directly involved.

Boarding
Overnight boarding is available for approved client dogs subject to Sam’s availability. In order to be eligible for boarding dogs must have graduated from one of Sam’s lesson packages or be currently enrolled in a package that includes four or more lessons. Board and Train
2-4-week custom board and train programs are available through Bear Necessities Dog Training for select dogs with very specific needs. These dogs are cared for in Sam’s home and receive daily training and enrichment alongside other boarding dogs and Sam’s golden retrievers Bailey and Baloo. Because this program is so limited/specific, further information is not available online and must be requested.
